About STINA STUDIOS
Stina Studios is a family affair! The art is created by Christina Turman while the custom frames are built by her husband Jake Turman, and her father Jim Gillis.
Christina Turman
Christina was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. This city is central to everything at Stina Studios; the stunning beauty of interior Alaska inspires much of her art, the trees from Fairbanks are used to create the frames, and the supportive community and her family there have made this business possible.
Much of Christinas art is inspired by time spent on local trails.
more about STINA
Christina has always had a passion for the outdoors and art, and she has found a way to combine these interests into her career. In addition to running Stina Studios, Christina also works for the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks and seasonally at a local flower farm, where she utilizes her creativity in floral arrangements. When she isn't in her studio, you can often find her on the ski trails. Christina credits much of her work ethic and drive to her experience as a competitive Nordic skier. It was skiing that brought her to Northern Michigan University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design. While she prefers to create art by hand, her background in graphic design has been invaluable for planning layering and coloring in her prints.
Although being a skier and an artist are integral parts of her identity, Christina defines herself first and foremost as a lover of God, her husband, and her two wonderful children. Also note worthy, is her deep passion for homemade baked goods and triple shot lattes.
